Petitions & Fundraisers

Petitions

When signing petitions on change.org, please be aware that any donations made will not go directly towards the petitions or cause.

  • Justice for Darius J. Tarver - Darius Tarver was a UNT student who was murdered by Denton PD officers. Sign the petition to file criminal changes against the officers involved.

  • UNT, show up with your wallet for Black lives. - This petition is asking Neal Smatresk & UNT's administration to defund the UNT police department & increase funding for student services.

  • Name June 9th Willie Hudspeth Day - Willie Hudspeth has spent the last 20+ years advocating for racial equality and the movement of the confederate monument. On June 9th, 2020, the County Commissioners voted to remove the monument from the square. We would like to the city council to declare June 9th Willie Hudspeth day in honor of his years of service to our community and dedication to equality.

Fundraisers

  • Justice for Lermont Stowers-Jones - Local authorities have still yet to provide a sufficient explanation of Lermont's death. Your donation will go towards getting the family legal representation as they deserve a legitimate investigation into his death.

  • Downtown Denton Needs a Black-Owned Restaurant - This fundraiser is set up to cover the cost of restaurant equipment and the first few months of expenses in a new space so Tammy and Manuel (owners of Clara's Kitchen) can open a restaurant in downtown.

  • Vacation for Willie Hudspeth and his family! - For over two decades Mr. Willie Hudspeth has spent his weekends protesting the confederate soldier monument on our town square. With the news of its removal to a museum we would like to honor Mr Hudspeth and his dedication and determination. All funds will be for a vacation for Willie and His family.

FAQ

  • May I share this? - Yes! Please! Bookmark it, share it, put it in your bio!

  • How can I make a suggestion? - If you'd like to add, modify, or remove a listing, or make a general website suggestion, click here to fill out a form.

  • What about Black-owned businesses in other cities? What about supporting other POC? They should absolutely be supported! However, that is not the mission of this website. If you'd like to set up a website similar to this one to support other BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color), I encourage you to do so. No programming language is needed to create a website on carrd.co. The markdown formatting is easy to understand, but if you need a little help, feel free to fill out the suggestion form and I'll see if I can assist you.
